⭐ What Our Customers Say About Our Freeze Dried Blackberries ⭐
Delicious Freeze Dried Blackberries
Blackberries are one of the great tastes of a Scottish late summer. Our blackberries have no added sugar and no preservatives: just Scottish blackberries, freeze-dried on our farm.
Why Freeze-Dried Blackberries?
We pick our blackberries at their ripest and freeze-dry them here on the farm. Freeze-drying gently takes out the water, leaving a light, crunchy berry with all the deep, sweet-tart flavour of a fresh blackberry. There’s no added sugar and nothing else in the bag: just Scottish blackberries.
Special Freeze Drying Process
In the freeze-drying process, we preserve blackberries’ natural flavour, making them available to enjoy all year round. We start by hand-picking the freshest and ripest blackberries at the peak of their season. These blackberries are then thoroughly washed and cleaned before being placed in our state-of-the-art freeze dryer.
The freeze dryer works by freezing the berries at a very low temperature and then using a process called sublimation to remove the water content. This process is gentle and preserves the shape, colour, and, most importantly, the taste of the blackberries.
The end result is a delicious, convenient snack that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere. The freeze drying process removes the water while preserving all the natural flavour of the blackberries. And you don’t need to worry about them going bad, as they can be stored for up to 25 years in a cool, dry place.
How To Use Freeze Dried Blackberries In The Kitchen
Freeze dried blackberries are a versatile ingredient that can be used in various ways in the kitchen. They are made by removing the water from fresh blackberries, which concentrates their flavour. This process also extends their shelf life, making freeze-dried blackberries a convenient ingredient to have on hand. Freeze dried blackberries can be used in various ways, including:
- Breakfast Topper
Start your day on the right foot by adding freeze dried blackberries to your breakfast! Whether you add them to your cereal, porridge, yoghurt or smoothie, freeze-dried blackberries are an efficient way to include sweetness and a burst of colour and flavour to your morning meal.
Muffin or Cupcake Mix-In
Adding freeze dried blackberries to your muffin or cupcake batter is a simple way to elevate the flavour of these classic baked goods. The sweet and tangy flavour of the blackberries complements the batter’s rich buttery taste, creating a delicious and well-balanced treat.
To incorporate freeze-dried blackberries into your muffin or cupcake batter, simply crush the berries into small pieces and fold them into the batter before baking. For added texture and flavour, you can also mix them with other ingredients such as nuts, chocolate chips, or spices. The possibilities are endless!
Trail Mix
Freeze-dried blackberries are an excellent addition to trail mix as they are light, tangy and won’t squash in your bag. The combination of sweet, tangy, and slightly tart blackberries with crunchy nuts, chewy dried fruit, and seeds creates a snack that is both delicious and satisfying.
To make your own trail mix, mix a handful of freeze-dried blackberries with your favourite nuts, such as almonds or cashews, and add some dried fruit, like raisins or cranberries, for extra sweetness. You can also include a variety of seeds, such as pumpkin or sunflower, for added crunch.
Sweetener
If you’re looking for a fruity way to sweeten your baked goods and sweet treats, consider using freeze-dried blackberries. Freeze-drying the blackberries concentrates their flavour and sweetness, making them an excellent alternative to sugar. They can also add a beautiful pop of colour to your baked goods and sweet treats, making them a great choice for special occasions.
To use freeze-dried blackberries as a sweetener, simply crush them into a powder and use them in place of sugar in your recipes. The amount you’ll need will vary depending on the recipe, but as a general rule, use about ¼ to ½ cups of crushed freeze-dried blackberries for every cup of sugar the recipe calls for.
Are you ready to add a touch of fruity flavour to your baked goods and sweet treats? Try using our freeze-dried blackberries! Their concentrated sweetness and tangy flavour make them a great alternative to traditional sugar. So, why wait? Get your hands on some freeze-dried blackberries today and start exploring all the delicious possibilities they have to offer!
